About the Site
Who made this site?
Hi! I was born and raised in Bridgewater, where I've always had a love for the unique character of the town. When I was in college, I studied architecture and used to love spending hours in archives researching buildings and learning more about the history of places. Since then, I've turned my efforts to local history and local buildings.

I think local history is meant to be shared, and I hope you'll find as much interest in the history of Bridgewater's buildings as I have!

If you spent any time in your youth at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton, be sure to check out my other site, the Silver City Galleria Archive.
Where does the content come from?
The backbone of this site is a series of research conducted by the Massachusetts Historical Commission in the early to mid 1980s. This information is rich and fascinating, but it's difficult to find on the MHC's site. By transforming their PDFs into text and images, then mapping them to a dynamic map for easy reference, I hope to make this trove of information more easily accessible to Bridgewater residents.

Please note that these texts are 40+ years old, so certain locations may have outdated information or may have been demolished since. There may also be typos and errors from PDF-to-text transcription. Please let me know if you spot any!

I also have done quite a bit of research on my own, which I am adding little by little. You'll find all that posted on the Recent Updates page. Each post will include a link back to that location's page on this site.
