Architectural Significance
This house is noteworthy for its unsual form. Representing a relatively late example of the Queen Anne Style, this house's main facade is dominated by a 3-story octagonal tower with a pyramidal roof—this is a unique building form in Bridgewater.
Historical Significance
Shaw St. was cut through the land of Andrew H. Ward at some point after 1903, It was apparently named from the Bridgewater's prominent John Shaw family (Rev. John Shaw, second minister of the First Congregational Church, Bridgewater, 1731-1791). This house's lot was part of C. & C. Washburn's house lot in 1903.
