Architectural Significance
This is a 5-bay x 3-bay, 2-story, center hall plan Federal frame vernacular house with a low hip roof. Particularly noteworthy are the main entrance's Doric pilasters.
Historical Significance
This house was moved to this site c. 1890 from an undetermined location—it may have been an Alden house which was located across Titicut St., to the north. On the 1903 Atlas this house and two barns appear labeled Mrs. Sarah F. Blackstone, housekeeper, State Farm. Presumably she was related to Hollis Blackstone, Superintendent of the State Farm at Bridgewater. Alden Square was originally called Blackstone Sq. and was set out c. 1886—1890.
