Architectural Significance
This is part of Bridgewater's extensive collection of Cape Cod Cottages. It is characterized by a boxy form, center hall plan and is enclosed by a gable roof. The entrance's enframents consist of simple vertical and horizontal boards.
Historical Significance
This house was apparently built for Solomon Hayward Jr. c. 1775. During the 1850s an S. and L. Hayward are listed here. George P. Harden, dry goods pedlar, lived here during the 1870s. This house appears unlabeled on the 1903 atlas.
